File shredding makes a permanent deletion of files or folders from hard disks. File shredding is different from file deletion. File deletion actually only deletes the reference or directory of a file so that it appears to have been deleted; while file shredding completely removes the directory as well as its content and makes the deleted file irreversible. The shredding process is usually fulfilled with file shredding programs.
