Interstate 405, located in California, is one of the busiest highways in all of the United States since the Interstate Highway System was introduced in 1956. I-405 a principle north-south interstate highway in Southern California and is the major bypass of Interstate 5, which runs through the Greater Los Angeles Area. The entire stretch of I-405 is the northern segment of the San Diego Freeway, even though it is located roughly 75 miles from downtown San Diego.
